Built on years of supporting prosecutions
As a task force detective, Andrew McDermott routinely advised prosecutors on the interpretation and strategic use of digital data for evidentiary hearings and trial, and served as the designated technical reviewer for digital data cases across partner jurisdictions. He has trained prosecutors and investigators at the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, ATF Headquarters, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, and the Adams County District Attorney's Office Digital Evidence Working Group, and has been endorsed as an expert in four Colorado judicial districts and in Multnomah County, Oregon.
How we support prosecutors
Early case review
Evaluate the digital records, investigative reports, and affidavits in a case to identify strengths, gaps, and additional records worth obtaining while they still exist.
Independent analysis & expert reports
Call detail records, historical cell site and timing advance data, device extractions, location data, video, social media, and multi-source timelines, documented to meet FRE 702 and applicable state standards. See all services
Pre-disclosure review of agency analysis
A second set of eyes on cell site reports, maps, and extraction findings prepared by investigators or analysts, so overstatements and errors are caught before disclosure, not on cross-examination. More on technical review
Rebuttal of defense experts
Technical review of defense expert reports and testimony, and preparation for cross-examination.
Hearings & trial
Support for Daubert and Shreck hearings and pretrial motions, demonstrative exhibits, and expert testimony at trial. More on testimony
Training for offices & task forces
Instruction on CDR analysis, timing advance, tower dumps, social media and geolocation evidence, and digital evidence integration, drawn from curricula delivered to agencies and prosecutors' offices nationwide.
Same standard, every side. We're retained by prosecutors, defense attorneys, and civil counsel. That independence is part of what makes testimony credible: the methodology and the limits of the data are stated the same way no matter who calls the witness.
